For years, Acton was viewed as the poor cousin of neighbouring Chiswick. But those days are far in the past. Acton has seen development and investment over recent years that has become one of the most popular West London places to live. It has been lived in for approximately a thousand years, with it mentioned as an Anglo-Saxon settlement as far back as 1181. Acton Wells was a source of mineral water that attracted the gentry back in the 1600s and 1700’s.
But today, Acton is seen as an attractive place to put down roots or buy a rental property. Millions have been spent on regeneration projects that have made Acton a unique place to live again. Couple this with the open spaces present in this part of town, and you have a hotspot that draws buyers from all walks of life.
Acton seems to be a renter’s paradise, with average rents sitting around a quarter lower than the average for the whole of London. The investment in the regeneration of the area has meant that shops, bars, restaurants and cafes have opened in their droves. You really are spoilt for choice here.
Acton Park and Acton Market are both favourites for the locals. The market gives you the chance to buy fresh produce and runs every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. In addition to the fresh food, you can find art and clothing stalls scattered around too.
Acton Gardens has been at the centre of much of the regeneration cash, and the 852 new homes that will be here when the construction has completed will add to the attraction of Acton. If you’re looking for somewhere brand new to live in Acton, then this might well be the place for you.
Layer Gardens is the choice for a family home at the top end of the market in Caton. An Acton detached home here costs in excess of £2 million. But what you get for your money stretches so much further than some of the surrounding areas in West London.
You can still find Acton studio apartments at the lower end of the market and spend considerably less than £200,000 if you know the right places to look. Bromyard Avenue is one of the locations where you can find a bargain from time to time.
Carberry Avenue boasts mock Tudor houses that stand back from the road and look grand both from the outside and when you enter. With good road links, these are popular with families. If you’re looking to buy or rent a property in Acton, then please drop us a line.
